He single handedly ushered the end of the onerous food tax and lowered taxes for every New Mexican.

Peruvian Ambassador to the United States, Harold Forsyth, traveled to New Mexico to honor Governor Bill Richardson with the highest Peruvian decoration the “Order of Merit for Distinguished Services.”   On Thursday, December 6th the Peruvian Ambassador bestowed this decoration to the Governor at the home of Bill and Alicia Miller in Santa Fe.  The Order of Merit for Distinguished Services is in rank of Grand Cross.  This order was established on July 18, 1950 to honor Peruvians and foreign nationals as recognition for their distinguished contributions to the prestige of Peru and to honor the valuable services rendered to the country in the fields of politics, arts, sciences, industry and commerce.
